Frequently Asked Questions

Sell Your Album Frequently Asked Questions:

  • Does my CD have to be bar-coded and shrink-wrapped?

No, you can send us CD’s in any form. We can sell them whether they are bar-coded and shrink-wrapped or not, it doesn’t matter.

  • If I sell my album on beneaththestreet.com, can I also sell it on other sites and in other stores?

Absolutely, we encourage you to get your album in as many stores as you can. Remember, the album is yours so you can do whatever you want with it.

  • Can I sell my album only on beneaththestreet.com if I choose to?

Yes, if you decide to sell your album exclusively on beneaththestreet.com, we will pay you more money per CD sold.  Also we will put your CD in primary advertising space on our site for free for as long as the album remains exclusive to beneaththestreet.com, in order to drive more customers to your album and help increase sales.  There is no time limit to how long it must be exclusive to beneaththestreet.com, and it doesn’t cost anything (actually you would make more money).

  • Do I need to include anything besides the artist submission form and one CD in my shipment?

No, those two things are all we need, although the album should come with artwork(the album cover).

  • Does beneaththestreet.com pay me up front for the CD’s I send them for sale on the site?

No, beneaththestreet.com works off consignment, as do most retailers.  We would like nothing more than to pay artists up front for the albums they are selling, however, it would cost too much money.  Therefore, you get paid when the albums sell, but it’s free to sell your album on beneaththestreet.com so it doesn’t cost you anything either. You can only make money, you have nothing to lose.

  • Do I determine the final selling price of my album?

No, you decide how much money you wish to receive per album, but due to market restrictions and supply and demand, as well as competitors prices, beneaththestreet.com must analyze the market and choose a price which will ultimately yield the most sales. This will create the most income for the artist. But we do take artists suggestions on selling price into account.  If you request $8 per album and beneaththestreet.com puts it on sale for $7 you still get your $8, no matter what the final selling price.  We will never ask you to take a financial hit for a sale we run.

If you could not find the answer to your question here please e-mail us at artisthelp@beneaththestreet.com and we will respond to your question as quickly as possible.
